The Power of ONE THING this Sunday!Hey Mosaic Friends- Greetings from sunny Colorado! First- I want to say THANKS to everyone who worked hard to make our Christmas Eve Eve service such a special night. I was personally blessed and I know countless others were as well. We had 225 people attend and we almost ran out of chairs! So THANK YOU to everyone who served last Friday night! I'm writing from lovely Colorado. Our family was able to visit Kristin’s family out in Denver this week and celebrate Christmas with them. I also got the chance to do some hiking and praying up in Rocky Mountain National Park. There is nothing quite like praying on a frozen lake at 10,000 feet elevation! How has your week gone? The week between Christmas and New Years Day is a great time to pause and reflect. I would love to encourage you to try and set aside some time this week to reflect on the past 12 months and also to pray and ask God to give you wisdom and direction for 2017. Maybe you won’t be able to do it on top of a mountain in Colorado, but even taking an hour for yourself to get away in silence and solitude for reflection and renewal could make a huge impact on how you start the new year. If you can't get away for a time of reflection this week, then maybe you can schedule some time during January. Use one of our Mosaic Journals to record some thoughts and goals for 2017! End of the Year Giving As 2016 draws to a close, I would like to ask that you consider making an end of the year financial gift to Mosaic Church. Your gift will ensure that we end the year well and that we are able to start 2017 strong. We want to continue to be an outpost that shares the HOPE of Jesus. Your giving helps us spread that message of HOPE and HEALING! You can give online here: http://www.mymosaicchurch.com/give.html The Power of One Thing This Sunday When we're setting goals for the new year, it's tempting to tackle everything we want to change about our lives. But how often does that really work? Instead, what if we focused on less to accomplish more? Join us THIS SUNDAY at 10 AM as we explore the power of One Thing. Just a reminder that this Sunday we will have just 1 service at 10 AM at Weaver Lake Elementary School. Thanks friends! I'm excited to worship with you all this Sunday! Pastor Erik Hey Mosaic Friends- This Sunday You will not want to miss this Sunday! I am going to be preaching on one of the most controversial parts of the Bible! Come see me sweat! :-) But honestly, I think that what I am going to share could have a HUGE impact on your family! We are also giving away a fun, free giveaway to everyone in service, do you won't want to miss this Sunday! If you haven't tried second service yet, I would love to encourage you to give the 11 AM service a try this Sunday! Video Podcast from Sunday If you weren't able to be in service this past Sunday, you can watch the video of the message HERE. A couple people have let me know that this was their favorite message so far from this series, so check it out if you missed it! I've also attached the small group discussion guide if you were not able to grab one on Sunday. Starting Point You have a story and we want to know your story! We want to help you get connected at Mosaic! One of the best ways to do that is through Starting Point. What is Starting Point? It's a one time, 90 minute class we hold once a month on either Wednesday or Thursday night. It offers you a chance to learn more about the mission, vision, and values of Mosaic and where we are going as a church and to ask any questions you might have. If you are interested in partnering with us a church, this is where you start! Our next Starting Point will be on Wednesday, December 14th, at 7 PM. This next class is almost full, so sign up quickly if you want to jump into this next one! You can sign up HERE. Online Giving If you are like me, I very rarely carry cash or my check book with me- especially on a Sunday morning! That's why we offer online giving for those of us that say Mosaic is our home church. We believe that God calls us to live a generous life and one of the ways we do that is to give a portion back to God from the abundance of what He has given to us. If you would like to partner with what Mosaic is doing, you can start giving online through our website. If you have never given to a church, I would love to encourage you to start giving something on a regular basis. Start small. It's amazing what God does in our hearts when we give faithfully and generously! If you would like to start giving, you can do that HERE. Thanks friends! Have a great week! Pastor Erik Hey Mosaic Friends- Superhero and Princess Sunday This Sunday is Princess and Superhero Sunday! We are encouraging kids to wear their costumes to church on Sunday and they can get their picture taken with a Disney Character! We'll have Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Ariel, Anna, Elsa, and Kristof at Mosaic this Sunday! Plus- All kids will also get FREE CANDY!! We might even throw some candy out from the stage for all the adults. It's going to be a fun morning that you will not want to miss! Video Podcast We are trying out a new thing: we are now recording a video podcast from Sunday's message. If you missed the message on Sunday or want to share it with a friend, you can check it our HERE. Upcoming Events: This Saturday! Men's Bonfire! 6:30-8:30 PM at Jeromie Smith’s (6952 Weaver Lake Dr Maple Grove, MN 55311) house. Fire, food, and fun times with other dudes from Mosaic! As a church we believe in creating community by eating together and playing together. This is a great opportunity to do that! Thursday, November 3: Starting Point. Starting Point is a one time, 90 minute gathering at Pastor Erik’s house. Whether you are just checking Mosaic out or you have been attending for a while but still don’t feel “plugged in”, the goal of Starting Point is to help you get to know Mosaic and help you take your next step. (This class is one of the requirements to be a partner with Mosaic). We'll offer the nest Starting Point Class sometime in January. Sign up HERE Sunday, November 6: Baptism Sunday. We believe that growing people change. Maybe your next step is getting baptized? Baptism is the outward symbol of the inward decision to follow Jesus. Never been baptized by immersion? You are never to old to be baptized! Maybe this is your next step in your spiritual journey! Have questions about baptism? Feel free to email me. Operation Christmas Child Every month our kid’s ministry raises money to put towards something that can tangibly help those that are in need. So far we have purchased through World Vision: A goat, a sheep, and four chickens. These animals go to some of the poorest places on the earth and allow families the gift of food, milk, cheese and provision. (www.worldvision.org) The kids are very proud of raising money and being able to help those that are in need! This past month we started raising money for Operation Christmas Child (shoebox ministry). We are hoping to pack at least 5 shoeboxes from Mosaic Kids. All of the offering from this past month until November 13th will be put towards packing these shoeboxes for kids who might not otherwise receive any Christmas presents. You can check out this video for more information. We will be putting together these shoeboxes on November 13th during both of the services. We wanted to give you the opportunity to donate supplies for the shoeboxes over the next 3 weeks. We will have a big rubber bin that you can put brand new supplies in if you would rather contribute in that way (must be in a new store-bought package, or tags still in place.) We are SO excited to be able to be a part of this amazing ministry that Operation Christmas Child offers. What a blessing to teach our kids that it is truly more blessed to give than receive! The age group that we will be targeting is a 2nd grade girl and boy, and 4th grade girl and boy. You can find ideas here- www.samaritanspurse.org If you have any questions please email our Children's Ministry Director at Beth@mymosaicchurch.com Thanks friends! Have a great rest of your week! See you on Sunday! Pastor Erik This Sunday I am so excited for us to kick off our new series "Labeled" this Sunday! We are going to spend the next 6 weeks diving into the book of Ephesians. We've all had people label us. Your boss may tell you that you're slow. A classmate might have whispered that you’re dumb. Your wife might sigh that you’re lazy. Your ex-boyfriend might have told you that you’re ugly. You never asked for these labels. The world may say a lot of things about you, but God only speaks truth. The labels HE puts on you are the only ones that matter! And he says you are: Loved. Chosen. Strong. Gifted. Check out the preview video for the series HERE. I'd love to encourage you to invite someone this Sunday who needs to hear that they are CHOSEN and loved by God! We're Growing! Mosaic is growing! The past 3 weeks we have been averaging 238 people each week. Last spring we were averaging about 165 each Sunday. With that comes some growing pains. This past Sunday we had 15 preschool kids in our preschool room during first service and 12 toddlers in the 1-3 year old room! That's a lot of little kids!! We love kids at Mosaic and we are so thankful for all the little ones that come on Sunday! Overall, 64% of our Sunday morning attendance is coming to first service. I would like to ask you to consider making the switch from attending the 9:30 AM service to attending the 11 AM service. If attending the 11 AM service doesn't work for you or your family, no worries! Keep coming to the 9:30 service! However, if 5 or 6 families/couples could make the switch from 9:30 to 11 AM, that would really help us out! Sunday's Podcast Sunday's podcast is online HERE. We are also going to experiment with uploading the video of Sunday's sermon each week for the next couple of weeks. If people are watching the videos, we'll keep doing it! You can watch Sunday's sermon here: https://vimeo.com/187711196 Upcoming Events: Saturday, Oct 29. Sunday, Oct 30: Superhero and Princess Sunday! At Mosaic, we believe that church should be fun! We want Mosaic Kids to be the best hour of your kids' week! Superhero and Princess Sunday is one way we do that! Have your kids dress up as their favorite superhero or princess! We'll have some Disney Characters at church that Sunday that your kids can take their picture with! We'll have prizes for kids who invite their friends to come visit Mosaic that Sunday. It's going to be a great day! Thursday, November 3: Starting Point. Starting Point is a one time, 90 minute gathering at Pastor Erik’s house. Thanks friends! Have a great week! See you on Sunday! Pastor Erik Hey Mosaic Friends- We Are 1 Years Old! This past Sunday we celebrated our 1st birthday as a church! It was our largest non-Easter attendance with 245 people! We had a BLAST partying after second service with face painting, balloon animals, bounce house, and pizza and cupcakes. Do you ever feel like you struggle with finding a balance between work, life, family, and everything else going on in your life? What's the key to living a balanced life? What do you do when you get promoted at work and now you have all these extra responsibilities? We'll be answering those questions and more this Sunday as we continue our series "Livin' the Dream"! It's going to be a great Sunday! Big Party on October 2nd! On October 2nd Mosaic will be celebrating our first birthday! We want to invite you to come worship with us at either 9:30AM or 11AM and then stick around for a big party at noon in the gym! We're going to have bounce houses, face painting, bean bag toss, and other fun stuff to do and we'll feed you and your family lunch. We'll take down the wall between the two gyms so we'll have plenty of room to party and we'll start promptly at noon. This is a great opportunity to check out our new 11AM service! Enjoy a nice Sunday brunch then come to service at 11AM and party with us at noon. And here's what's great: neither the Vikings nor the Packers play that day! We'd like to thank the NFL for cooperating with us in their scheduling ;-) Last Sunday's Podcast This past Sunday I preached on intimacy and sex. Lots of great homework for all your married couples! If you missed it, check out the podcast here: http://mosaicchurch.podomatic.com/entry/2016-09-19T17_12_42-07_00 Youth Group Tonight Our student ministry is starting a new series tonight called Speed of Light. Life can be tough as a teenager, and it definitely comes with its hardships: breakups, homework, navigating relationships, not making the team, rejection, and getting picked on. These are just to name a few. In this series, we’ll watch as three teenagers are put together for a school project. They become closer and closer as each student faces a hardship in their lives. They will have to figure out how to navigate through them. Have questions about youth group? Email David Molina at molinadavidalonso@yahoo.com Men's Event Tonight!! Pro Cart Racing! This is a great chance to race some fast cars and to meet other guys at Mosaic! Cost is $40 per person. But if you visited for the first time on either September 11 or 18, we want to cover your cost as way of saying "be our guest"! Email Ryan Holland (the Tesla guy) at Holland_Ryan@hotmail.com if you have any questions. Small Groups This week is the last week to sign up for a Fall Mosaic Small Group! Small Groups are a great way to meet new friends, grow in your relationship with God, and just have fun! That’s why groups are an integral part of what we do at Mosaic Church… they are a great first step toward living in community and growing in your relationship with Jesus. Three of the ten groups are now filled up (thanks everyone who signed up already!) but there are seven more groups that are still open for you to choose from! Fall Groups go about 10-12 weeks and then take a break before Christmas hits. Check out the list of groups and sign up for one today! http://www.mymosaicchurch.com/small-groups.html Thanks friends! Have a great week! Pastor Erik erik@mymosaicchurch.com Opportunity to Serve Others! There's a fun, upcoming serving opportunity for individuals and families! On Saturday, September 10th, Mosaic Church will be participating in the Osseo Lions Day Parade. We are partnering with CROSS and will be driving the CROSS truck and pulling our 25 foot trailer behind their truck. This will help promote both CROSS and Mosaic Church. The parade begins at noon. We are looking for families and individuals to walk along side the Mosaic trailer (wearing your Mosaic T-Shirt!) and handing out Mosaic frisbees and candy. It's a great chance to spread the word in our community about both Mosaic Church and CROSS. Please email Pastor Nate if you have questions or to sign up! Fall Kick-Off on September 11th! We are going to kick Fall off with a bang on September 11th! That Sunday we are going to two services (9:30 and 11 AM) and we'll be kicking off a new series called "Livin' the Dream". This is a great opportunity to invite a friend or neighbor to come check out Mosaic with you! "Avoiding Election Infection" This Sunday we are going to dive into the emotionally charged topic of American politics and ask, "what would it look like if Christians filtered their politics through their faith rather than filtering their faith through their politics?" I think it's going to spark some great discussion! (This is the last Sunday with only one service at 9:30 AM) Praying for Teachers We will also be spending some time in our service praying for all the teachers (public, private, AND homeschool) that are a part of Mosaic. We love teachers and believe you are making a huge impact in the lives of kids! We want to pray a prayer of blessing over you as the new school year kicks off. Feel free to invite any teachers you might know to come to our service this Sunday to receive a prayer of blessing! Podcast Last Sunday we looked at the Unstoppable Mission of God. Memorial Day Weekend is coming up fast which means summer is almost here! Every Sunday, our team at Mosaic works hard to create an unforgettable experience where you can worship God, grow in your faith, and experience community with others! We don't take any Sunday for granted-including the summer- and we hope what you experience each Sunday morning adds value to your busy lives! That being said, we understand that summer is a time when many of us travel or spend time on the lake or at our cabins. My desire is that you would never feel guilty for missing some Sunday services. Even as the pastor of Mosaic, I'm going to miss a few Sundays this summer visiting family in Colorado and I plan on enjoying that time guilt free! Have fun this summer! Play with your kids at the lake! Travel! Just know that Mosaic will be here when you get back. You will ALWAYS be welcome- ever if it's been weeks since we've seen you! So even if it's been a few weeks since you've been at Mosaic, we'd love to see you again- no guilt please. However, there are some things you can do to stay connected to Mosaic while enjoying the beautiful Minnesota summer months:
Wrestling With... This past Sunday, I preached on the story of Jacob wrestling with God (Genesis 32). The truth is, I think most of us are wrestling with SOMETHING in our lives right now. Maybe it's a job change. Maybe it's relational strife. Maybe it's just wrestling with the best way to raise our kids. If you missed my sermon, you can listen to the recording here: SERMON PODCAST Maybe something you are wrestling with is depression or anxiety. I came across this great blog post this week from Newspring Church. The blog post is titled: "If its OK to not be OK, why do I feel so guilty and depressed?" Maybe this will resonate with where you are at right now: May is Mental Health Awareness Month. As a woman who wrestled with depression and went through three counselors in two years, this article is what I wish someone had told me about getting help and why I don’t need to feel guilty about it. “Maybe you should call your doctor about some medication.” “You think?” I said as I stared out the window. “I do. I’ve been through this before and experienced these things. I think you should call your doctor about getting on some medication.” That conversation was the start of my two-year battle. The depression was something that I didn’t see coming and seemed so strange to me. It was like watching one of those commercials with a person sitting in the bathrobe on the couch, staring into space. I didn’t eat or sleep; I was just a shell of a person. Chores around the house fell by the wayside as I struggled to make it through each day. To top it all off, I felt guilty. Why did I feel this way? Shouldn’t I have been thankful? I have a great husband and two healthy, beautiful children. Then why did I feel so numb? The guilt sat heavy. I prayed for God to take it away, or to take me. See the rest of the article here: Why Do I Feel So Guilty? Thanks friends! Have a great Memorial Day weekend! Pastor Erik You won't want to miss church this Sunday! First, we are kicking off a new series called "Fixer Upper: Building Stronger Families." We'll even hear from the one and only Joanna Gaines, from the TV show Fixer Upper! We'll be continuing our series in Genesis and looking at how Genesis 28 shows us how to build a strong foundation. Also, we'll be celebrating that Spring has Sprung with a Family Fun Day right after our worship service! It looks like the weather is going to be beautiful, so we'll be hanging outside with a FREE bounce house, face painting, and magic tricks for the kids and Bean Bag Toss and Volleyball set up for the adults. We'll also be grilling up some free food for everyone. It's going to be a ton of fun and also a really great chance to meet others that are new to Mosaic! Couple Other Things Coming Up: -Student Ministry. We wanted to let you all know that we will be launching our Student Ministry for kids in middle school and high school this June!! More details to come soon!! -Mother's Day. As a way to say thanks to all the moms, we'll be giving them all free chocolate on Mother's Day! We'll also have an opportunity for people to honor and remember the moms we have lost and all of us who have experienced the pain of miscarriage and losing a child. It's going to be a really neat morning that you won't want to miss! -Men's Bonfire and BBQ. The guys will be getting together for a chance to eat some meat, play some yard games, and get to know each other better. Monday night, May 9. 6:30-9:30 PM at Jeromie Smith's house. Exciting stuff! See you all on Sunday! Pastor Erik |
