Hey Mosaic Friends-
I am SOOO pumped for this Sunday! First, we are wrapping up our series "Better Together" by learning how Jesus wants us to PARTY TOGETHER! Sounds fun, right?! Second, we are celebrating life change with baptisms during the 10:30 service. There is nothing like celebrating what Jesus has done in the lives of people who have surrendered the leadership of their lives over to Jesus!
Coffee and Donuts- the staff and leadership team at Mosaic has gone back and forth about whether we should have donuts on Sunday mornings, but we have finally come to an official decision: we will no longer offer donuts or cookies on Sunday mornings. Instead, we will be using the money that we have been spending on donuts to start offering better coffee! Pastor Nate has worked out a deal with our local Starbucks, so starting next week we will be proudly be serving Starbucks coffee on Sunday mornings. As a bonus, they will be giving us Starbucks coffee cups to use on Sunday mornings- for free! Better coffee and no more having to deal with your kids (or husband!) begging for another donut hopefully will mean a better Sunday morning experience for everyone!
Wed, March 15. Starting Point (7-8:30 PM)
Are you new to Mosaic? The best place to start is Starting Point! Get connected with others who are new, learn more about Mosaic, and ask Pastor Erik any questions you might have. RSVP by replying to this email. Limited to 12 people per class. Hosted at the Lindeen's house. (No childcare)
Friday, March 17. Guys Game Night! (6:30-9 PM)
Hey Men! Are you looking to make more friends at Mosaic and also have a good time? We’ve got a great event for you! We will be hosting a Game Night for Guys at Paul Nystrom’s house. We’ll have different tables with different games available: Settlers of Catan, Poker, Sequence, and some fun new board games! Plus good food and drinks. Open for any and all guys!
Saturday, March 25. Community Seminar: “Living a Healthier Life”. (6:30-8:00 PM)
On Saturday, March 25 we will be hosting a free seminar for the people in our community as well as for the people of Mosaic. Mosaic's very own Dr. Paul Nystrom will be presenting on how to eat healthy and how to exercise for maxim impact. I'm guessing like me, you have already given up on your New Years Resolutions! This is a great opportunity for you to get back on track and also to invite friends and family and a way for us to BLESS our community! (No, this is not some kind of multi-level network marketing thing :-))
Sunday, April 9: MN Teen Challenge Choir!
We are excited to have the Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge Choir come minister to us with songs and testimonies on April 9th! Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge is a Christian based rehab and recover center. For almost 30 years, Mn Adult & Teen Challenge has been restoring hope to people struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. This is going to be a great Sunday filled with stories of hope!
Friday, April 14. Good Friday Worship Service (6:30-7:30 PM)
We will be holding a family friendly acoustic worship and communion service at Weaver Lake Elementary School as a way to prepare our hearts for Resurrection Sunday.
Sunday, April 16. Easter!!!
Easter for us as followers of Jesus is the pinnacle of our church calendar. Jesus' resurrection is the single greatest event in the history of the world and Easter is a time for us to go all out and celebrate what Jesus has done for us! Easter is also a time where 7 out of 10 people who are invited to an Easter service by someone they know will accept that invitation. I'd love to encourage you to start praying about who God would like you to invite to one of our Easter services.
Thanks friends! Have a great weekend!
Hey Mosaic Friends!
I hope you are all having a great week! I want to give a shout out to everyone who made Super Sunday a big success! We had 235 people attend our two services- the 3rd largest non-Easter service we have had since we launched! Every number has a name and every name has a story! We will always be excited to help more and more people learn what it means to Love God, Serve Others, and Make Disciples! Thanks to everyone who served this past Sunday and I want to especially thank everyone who made our Chili Potluck after church go well. I know everyone had a ton of fun and lots of people were able to connect with others who are a part of Mosaic. Thanks everyone!
This Sunday we continue our series "Better Together." We'll be diving into Luke 5:12-16. It's a POWERFUL story! You won't want to miss this Sunday!
February 19. Parent and Child Dedication.
What do we mean by dedication? What exactly are you dedicating? Really, there are two types of dedication happening. For one, it’s a time for you to dedicate yourself to Godly parenting. Of course, you won’t be perfect in this, but it’s a time for you to publicly dedicate yourself, to the best of your abilities, to raise your child in a Godly home. It’s also a time for those friends and family to rally around you and support you in prayer.
The other meaning of the dedication is that you are “dedicating” your child to God. In the Bible, we see many instances of parents dedicating their child to God (Hannah; Mary & Joseph, etc.). While you won’t actually be handing your child over to us like many did in those days, it is a public symbol for you to say that you are dedicating your child to God. You are, in a sense, saying, “God, you gave me this child, and he/she is in your hands today. He/she is completely yours. If that is something you are interested in doing on February 19th, you can sign up HERE.
February 19. Starting Point (7-8:30 PM)
We want to help you get connected at Mosaic! One of the best ways to do that is through Starting Point. What is Starting Point? It's a one time, 90 minute class we hold once a month. It offers you a chance to learn more about the mission, vision, and values of Mosaic and where we are going as a church and to ask any questions you might have. This is one of the requirements for partnership (membership) at Mosaic so everyone needs to attend this class at some point before becoming a member at Mosaic. You can sign up HERE for February's Starting Point class. (No childcare).
February 25th. Operation School Zone
We want to be a blessing to our community! We are planning a fun, family friendly service project for everyone in the church to participate on Saturday, February 25h. We will be doing a deep clean of Rice Lake Elementary School from 10am till noon. This is a great opportunity to serve alongside your kids, neighbors, or co-workers and to bless one of the schools in our city! Anyone and everyone is invited to serve with us on that day! Email Pastor Nate at email@example.com for any questions or to sign up.
February 26. Baptisms!
Baptism is the symbol of repentance in our lives. At Mosaic- Baptism shouldn’t be something we tolerate, it should be something we celebrate! We celebrate what matters! The world celebrates what is temporary- the church celebrates what is eternal: radically transformed lives! Baptism: standing there in the water represents who you USED to be. Then you go under the water to identify with dying with Christ. Then you are raised out of the water to represent that you have new life with Jesus!
Have you been baptized since you became a follower of Jesus? If not- we would love to baptize you on February 26th!
Thanks friends! Lots of exciting things going on this month!!
Have a blessed week,
This Sunday is SUPER SUNDAY! Join us after the 10:30 AM service for a soup potluck lunch. We'll have a bounce house and two professional face painters for the kids! We are also encouraging everyone to wear their favorite football jersey or sports apparel to church. I'll be preaching in a throwback Vikings jersey! Everyone who attends will also get a free Mosaic Football as our way of saying "thanks for being on the team!" It's going to be an awesome Sunday! This is a great opportunity to invite a neighbor or co-worker to come check Mosaic out.
We'll be providing cheese pizza for the kids... or for adults who don't like soup or chili :-) We currently have 10 families bringing soup or chili but we need about 5 more people to offer to bring soup or chili this Sunday. We need 2 more people to bring dessert and 2 more people to bring a salad. To sign up to bring something to share, you can just reply to this email and let me know what you can bring. Lunch, bounce house, and face painting will go from 11:45 AM-1:15 PM.
New Series Starting This Sunday
This Sunday we kick off a new series called "Better Together"! Life is better when shared with others! This month we will be focusing on relationships, authentic community, and how together we can make the world a better place.
Spring Small Groups
This is the last week to sign up for a Spring Small Group! Small Groups are a great way to meet new friends, grow in your relationship with God, and just have fun! That’s why groups are an integral part of what we do at Mosaic Church… they are a great first step toward living in community and growing in your relationship with Jesus. You can see our list of groups and sign up for a group here:
Thanks friends! I'm so excited for SUPER SUNDAY!
The Power of ONE THING this Sunday!
Hey Mosaic Friends-
Greetings from sunny Colorado! First- I want to say THANKS to everyone who worked hard to make our Christmas Eve Eve service such a special night. I was personally blessed and I know countless others were as well. We had 225 people attend and we almost ran out of chairs! So THANK YOU to everyone who served last Friday night!
I'm writing from lovely Colorado. Our family was able to visit Kristin’s family out in Denver this week and celebrate Christmas with them. I also got the chance to do some hiking and praying up in Rocky Mountain National Park. There is nothing quite like praying on a frozen lake at 10,000 feet elevation!
How has your week gone? The week between Christmas and New Years Day is a great time to pause and reflect. I would love to encourage you to try and set aside some time this week to reflect on the past 12 months and also to pray and ask God to give you wisdom and direction for 2017. Maybe you won’t be able to do it on top of a mountain in Colorado, but even taking an hour for yourself to get away in silence and solitude for reflection and renewal could make a huge impact on how you start the new year. If you can't get away for a time of reflection this week, then maybe you can schedule some time during January. Use one of our Mosaic Journals to record some thoughts and goals for 2017!
End of the Year Giving
As 2016 draws to a close, I would like to ask that you consider making an end of the year financial gift to Mosaic Church. Your gift will ensure that we end the year well and that we are able to start 2017 strong. We want to continue to be an outpost that shares the HOPE of Jesus. Your giving helps us spread that message of HOPE and HEALING! You can give online here: http://www.mymosaicchurch.com/give.html
The Power of One Thing This Sunday
When we're setting goals for the new year, it's tempting to tackle everything we want to change about our lives. But how often does that really work? Instead, what if we focused on less to accomplish more? Join us THIS SUNDAY at 10 AM as we explore the power of One Thing. Just a reminder that this Sunday we will have just 1 service at 10 AM at Weaver Lake Elementary School.
Thanks friends! I'm excited to worship with you all this Sunday!
Hey Mosaic Friends-
You will not want to miss this Sunday! I am going to be preaching on one of the most controversial parts of the Bible! Come see me sweat! :-) But honestly, I think that what I am going to share could have a HUGE impact on your family! We are also giving away a fun, free giveaway to everyone in service, do you won't want to miss this Sunday! If you haven't tried second service yet, I would love to encourage you to give the 11 AM service a try this Sunday!
Video Podcast from Sunday
If you weren't able to be in service this past Sunday, you can watch the video of the message HERE. A couple people have let me know that this was their favorite message so far from this series, so check it out if you missed it! I've also attached the small group discussion guide if you were not able to grab one on Sunday.
You have a story and we want to know your story! We want to help you get connected at Mosaic! One of the best ways to do that is through Starting Point. What is Starting Point? It's a one time, 90 minute class we hold once a month on either Wednesday or Thursday night. It offers you a chance to learn more about the mission, vision, and values of Mosaic and where we are going as a church and to ask any questions you might have. If you are interested in partnering with us a church, this is where you start! Our next Starting Point will be on Wednesday, December 14th, at 7 PM. This next class is almost full, so sign up quickly if you want to jump into this next one! You can sign up HERE.
If you are like me, I very rarely carry cash or my check book with me- especially on a Sunday morning! That's why we offer online giving for those of us that say Mosaic is our home church. We believe that God calls us to live a generous life and one of the ways we do that is to give a portion back to God from the abundance of what He has given to us. If you would like to partner with what Mosaic is doing, you can start giving online through our website. If you have never given to a church, I would love to encourage you to start giving something on a regular basis. Start small. It's amazing what God does in our hearts when we give faithfully and generously! If you would like to start giving, you can do that HERE.
Thanks friends! Have a great week!
Hey Mosaic Friends-
Superhero and Princess Sunday
This Sunday is Princess and Superhero Sunday! We are encouraging kids to wear their costumes to church on Sunday and they can get their picture taken with a Disney Character! We'll have Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Ariel, Anna, Elsa, and Kristof at Mosaic this Sunday! Plus- All kids will also get FREE CANDY!! We might even throw some candy out from the stage for all the adults. It's going to be a fun morning that you will not want to miss!
We are trying out a new thing: we are now recording a video podcast from Sunday's message. If you missed the message on Sunday or want to share it with a friend, you can check it our HERE.
This Saturday! Men's Bonfire! 6:30-8:30 PM at Jeromie Smith’s (6952 Weaver Lake Dr Maple Grove, MN 55311) house. Fire, food, and fun times with other dudes from Mosaic! As a church we believe in creating community by eating together and playing together. This is a great opportunity to do that!
Thursday, November 3: Starting Point. Starting Point is a one time, 90 minute gathering at Pastor Erik’s house. Whether you are just checking Mosaic out or you have been attending for a while but still don’t feel “plugged in”, the goal of Starting Point is to help you get to know Mosaic and help you take your next step. (This class is one of the requirements to be a partner with Mosaic). We'll offer the nest Starting Point Class sometime in January. Sign up HERE
Sunday, November 6: Baptism Sunday. We believe that growing people change. Maybe your next step is getting baptized? Baptism is the outward symbol of the inward decision to follow Jesus. Never been baptized by immersion? You are never to old to be baptized! Maybe this is your next step in your spiritual journey! Have questions about baptism? Feel free to email me.
Operation Christmas Child
Every month our kid’s ministry raises money to put towards something that can tangibly help those that are in need. So far we have purchased through World Vision: A goat, a sheep, and four chickens. These animals go to some of the poorest places on the earth and allow families the gift of food, milk, cheese and provision. (www.worldvision.org) The kids are very proud of raising money and being able to help those that are in need!
This past month we started raising money for Operation Christmas Child (shoebox ministry). We are hoping to pack at least 5 shoeboxes from Mosaic Kids. All of the offering from this past month until November 13th will be put towards packing these shoeboxes for kids who might not otherwise receive any Christmas presents. You can check out this video for more information.
We will be putting together these shoeboxes on November 13th during both of the services. We wanted to give you the opportunity to donate supplies for the shoeboxes over the next 3 weeks. We will have a big rubber bin that you can put brand new supplies in if you would rather contribute in that way (must be in a new store-bought package, or tags still in place.) We are SO excited to be able to be a part of this amazing ministry that Operation Christmas Child offers. What a blessing to teach our kids that it is truly more blessed to give than receive! The age group that we will be targeting is a 2nd grade girl and boy, and 4th grade girl and boy. You can find ideas here- www.samaritanspurse.org If you have any questions please email our Children's Ministry Director at Beth@mymosaicchurch.com
Thanks friends! Have a great rest of your week! See you on Sunday!
I am so excited for us to kick off our new series "Labeled" this Sunday! We are going to spend the next 6 weeks diving into the book of Ephesians. We've all had people label us. Your boss may tell you that you're slow. A classmate might have whispered that you’re dumb. Your wife might sigh that you’re lazy. Your ex-boyfriend might have told you that you’re ugly. You never asked for these labels. The world may say a lot of things about you, but God only speaks truth. The labels HE puts on you are the only ones that matter! And he says you are: Loved. Chosen. Strong. Gifted. Check out the preview video for the series HERE.
I'd love to encourage you to invite someone this Sunday who needs to hear that they are CHOSEN and loved by God!
Mosaic is growing! The past 3 weeks we have been averaging 238 people each week. Last spring we were averaging about 165 each Sunday. With that comes some growing pains. This past Sunday we had 15 preschool kids in our preschool room during first service and 12 toddlers in the 1-3 year old room! That's a lot of little kids!! We love kids at Mosaic and we are so thankful for all the little ones that come on Sunday! Overall, 64% of our Sunday morning attendance is coming to first service. I would like to ask you to consider making the switch from attending the 9:30 AM service to attending the 11 AM service. If attending the 11 AM service doesn't work for you or your family, no worries! Keep coming to the 9:30 service! However, if 5 or 6 families/couples could make the switch from 9:30 to 11 AM, that would really help us out!
Sunday's podcast is online HERE.
We are also going to experiment with uploading the video of Sunday's sermon each week for the next couple of weeks. If people are watching the videos, we'll keep doing it! You can watch Sunday's sermon here: https://vimeo.com/187711196
Saturday, Oct 29.
Sunday, Oct 30: Superhero and Princess Sunday! At Mosaic, we believe that church should be fun! We want Mosaic Kids to be the best hour of your kids' week! Superhero and Princess Sunday is one way we do that! Have your kids dress up as their favorite superhero or princess! We'll have some Disney Characters at church that Sunday that your kids can take their picture with! We'll have prizes for kids who invite their friends to come visit Mosaic that Sunday. It's going to be a great day!
Sunday, November 13: Baptism Sunday. We believe that growing people change. Maybe your next step is getting baptized? Baptism is the outward symbol of the inward decision to follow Jesus. Never been baptized by immersion? You are never to old to be baptized! Maybe this is your next step in your spiritual journey!
Thanks friends! Have a great week! See you on Sunday!
Hey Mosaic Friends-
We Are 1 Years Old!
This past Sunday we celebrated our 1st birthday as a church! It was our largest non-Easter attendance with 245 people! We had a BLAST partying after second service with face painting, balloon animals, bounce house, and pizza and cupcakes. We also showed a highlights video from our first year. If you missed that video, you can check it out here:
The podcasts for the last two Sundays are now online. If you missed either of those messages or would like to listen to them again, you can download them here: http://mosaicchurch.podomatic.com/
Hey ladies! We'd love to have you join us for our Women's Fall Bonfire! 6:30-8:30 PM at Jennifer Smith’s house. Join us for s’mores, hot apple cider, and a chance to get to know other women from Mosaic Church! You can respond to the Facebook event here:
First Week of Small Groups!
Small Groups kicked off this week! I'd love to hear how they are going! Shoot me an email and tell me what's gone great or tell me how your small group leader is doing! Are you liking the Green Sheets we had on Sunday to help your small group discussions and to help you take your next steps on your journey?
Do you ever feel like you struggle with finding a balance between work, life, family, and everything else going on in your life? What's the key to living a balanced life? What do you do when you get promoted at work and now you have all these extra responsibilities? We'll be answering those questions and more this Sunday as we continue our series "Livin' the Dream"! It's going to be a great Sunday!
Big Party on October 2nd!
On October 2nd Mosaic will be celebrating our first birthday! We want to invite you to come worship with us at either 9:30AM or 11AM and then stick around for a big party at noon in the gym! We're going to have bounce houses, face painting, bean bag toss, and other fun stuff to do and we'll feed you and your family lunch. We'll take down the wall between the two gyms so we'll have plenty of room to party and we'll start promptly at noon. This is a great opportunity to check out our new 11AM service! Enjoy a nice Sunday brunch then come to service at 11AM and party with us at noon. And here's what's great: neither the Vikings nor the Packers play that day! We'd like to thank the NFL for cooperating with us in their scheduling ;-)
Last Sunday's Podcast
This past Sunday I preached on intimacy and sex. Lots of great homework for all your married couples! If you missed it, check out the podcast here: http://mosaicchurch.podomatic.com/entry/2016-09-19T17_12_42-07_00
Youth Group Tonight
Our student ministry is starting a new series tonight called Speed of Light.
Life can be tough as a teenager, and it definitely comes with its hardships: breakups, homework, navigating relationships, not making the team, rejection, and getting picked on. These are just to name a few. In this series, we’ll watch as three teenagers are put together for a school project. They become closer and closer as each student faces a hardship in their lives. They will have to figure out how to navigate through them.
Have questions about youth group? Email David Molina at firstname.lastname@example.org
Men's Event Tonight!!
Pro Cart Racing! This is a great chance to race some fast cars and to meet other guys at Mosaic! Cost is $40 per person. But if you visited for the first time on either September 11 or 18, we want to cover your cost as way of saying "be our guest"! Email Ryan Holland (the Tesla guy) at Holland_Ryan@hotmail.com if you have any questions.
This week is the last week to sign up for a Fall Mosaic Small Group! Small Groups are a great way to meet new friends, grow in your relationship with God, and just have fun! That’s why groups are an integral part of what we do at Mosaic Church… they are a great first step toward living in community and growing in your relationship with Jesus.
Three of the ten groups are now filled up (thanks everyone who signed up already!) but there are seven more groups that are still open for you to choose from! Fall Groups go about 10-12 weeks and then take a break before Christmas hits. Check out the list of groups and sign up for one today! http://www.mymosaicchurch.com/small-groups.html
Thanks friends! Have a great week!
Opportunity to Serve Others!
There's a fun, upcoming serving opportunity for individuals and families! On Saturday, September 10th, Mosaic Church will be participating in the Osseo Lions Day Parade. We are partnering with CROSS and will be driving the CROSS truck and pulling our 25 foot trailer behind their truck. This will help promote both CROSS and Mosaic Church. The parade begins at noon. We are looking for families and individuals to walk along side the Mosaic trailer (wearing your Mosaic T-Shirt!) and handing out Mosaic frisbees and candy. It's a great chance to spread the word in our community about both Mosaic Church and CROSS. Please email Pastor Nate if you have questions or to sign up!
Fall Kick-Off on September 11th!
We are going to kick Fall off with a bang on September 11th! That Sunday we are going to two services (9:30 and 11 AM) and we'll be kicking off a new series called "Livin' the Dream". This is a great opportunity to invite a friend or neighbor to come check out Mosaic with you!
"Avoiding Election Infection"
This Sunday we are going to dive into the emotionally charged topic of American politics and ask, "what would it look like if Christians filtered their politics through their faith rather than filtering their faith through their politics?" I think it's going to spark some great discussion! (This is the last Sunday with only one service at 9:30 AM)
Praying for Teachers
We will also be spending some time in our service praying for all the teachers (public, private, AND homeschool) that are a part of Mosaic. We love teachers and believe you are making a huge impact in the lives of kids! We want to pray a prayer of blessing over you as the new school year kicks off. Feel free to invite any teachers you might know to come to our service this Sunday to receive a prayer of blessing!
Last Sunday we looked at the Unstoppable Mission of God. If you missed it, take a listen and see why I called us a bunch of Idiot Rhinos! Here's the link to the podcast: UNSTOPPABLE MISSION
Back to School Bash for Youth Group
The youth group is wrapping up summer by enjoying some food and fun at our Student Ministry Director David Molina's house (6735 Quantico Lane N. Maple Grove, MN. 55311.) 6-30-8 PM. Don't miss it! David will be sharing up important details about Fall youth group!
Thanks friends! Lot of details but also lots of exciting things coming up! Have a great week!
